The team ended the season ranked 2nd in the East Bay. The following year, famed sports writer, Charlie Zeno, penned the “1968 Rams Top Team of Decade.” The team was led by Head Coach Hal Briggs, Line Coach Jimmie Timms, & Backfield Coach Roger Leonard. The team included All-Leaguers Pat Riley, Claude Tomasini, Bill Cooper, Jim Ryan and Al Davis. Other standouts on this undefeated team included Trent Osmer, Dave Abbey, Mike James, Steve Johnson, Dave Reynolds and Steve Ernst. The offense averaged 23 points a game and the defense kept teams at less that 6 points a game including three shutouts during the season. In two crucial, mid-season games, the Rams defeated College Park 7-6 and downed Ygnacio Valley 12–7. Both these games came down to huge defensive efforts to continue the undefeated season. Even the one tie game against Concord required a comeback effort with fewer than 5 minutes to play, that knotted the score to preserve the undefeated season.
